Washington County Developmental Disability Services purpose of a developmental disabilities case management program is to identify, access, coordinate and assure the delivery of services and support required by an individual with developmental disabilities.
To be considered a developmental disability, it must occur before a person reaches age 22; mental retardation must occur before age 18. The county currently employs 22 services coordinators (also sometimes called case managers). The county also contracts with 17 agencies to provide residential, vocational and transportation services.

The overall purpose of a developmental disabilities services coordination program is to identify, access, coordinate and assure the delivery of services and support required by an individual with developmental disabilities
The role of the DD services coordinator is to assist individuals and families in accessing services such as:
Medical/dental services
Counseling
Financial aid; e.g., Social Security,
Food stamps, energy assistance
Brokerage services
Respite
Recreational activities
Housing
Vocational Rehabilitation
Services coordinators are also involved in crisis intervention and protective services necessary to ensure the health and safety of the individuals on their case loads. - Residential Programs

Residential programs provide services in neighborhood settings for individuals who require care, supervision, support and training. Programs provide board and room as well as services such as monitoring of medical and health needs, behavior management, assistance with money management and participation in community and leisure time activities.
- Employment and Alternatives to Employment Programs

Employment and Alternatives to Employment Programs provide community based employment, training and support designed to increase an individual's independence, productivity, and integration.
- Crisis services

Crisis services may be available for adults who are at risk of institutionalization or children at risk of out-of-home placement. Services may be provided in the form of placement at a crisis bed, funding for additional supports in the existing residential and/or vocational placement, training and/or technical assistance, or other interventions.
- Mobility Training or Transportation Services

Mobility training or transportation services may be provided for vocational, medical, or other purposes in which standard transportation sources are not available or cannot be accessed.
- Family Support Services

Family Support is individualized planning and service coordination for children, arranging for services to be provided and supports to be purchased that would enable a child to remain in or return to the family home.
- Brokerage Services

Brokerages provide individuals with help in identifying and coordinating the supports they may need. A personal agent works with the individual and acts as a facilitator for the supports.
Some examples of support are budgeting, meal planning, job coaching and respite care - Transportation
