Self-Advocates As Leaders (SAAL) is a statewide organization of people with developmental disabilities interested in training and developing strong leaders to become equal partners in policy and legislation that affects our lives.

- Policy Committee

The Policy Committee of Self-Advocates As Leaders is made up of individuals who want to get political. Members from communities all over the state meet to take action on issues that are affecting people with developmental disabilities.
Goals are set for impacting policy for Oregonians with disabilities. White papers, or letters, are written expressing the needs of people with developmental disabilities, and are distributed to policy makers. Capitol Connections and Advocacy Days training opportunities are available for people with developmental disabilities who want to take action and learn skills how to be more involved in the political process. - Outreach and Training Committee

The Outreach and Training Committee is responsible for deciding how to find new members for SAAL. Training goals and resources for SAAL are designed to develop new self-advocate leaders and grow new Self-Advocates As Leaders teams around the state.
Training opportunities include Self-Advocacy 101, Advanced Leadership, Supporting Independence, Life Stories Workshops, Capitol Connections Legislative Training, and more. - Editorial Committee
