Oregon Parent Training and Information Center is the statewide parent training and information center serving parents of children with disabilities. We provide training and information about special education and other issues related to children with disabilities, age 0-21.

 

ELIGIBILITY:
Any parent with an identified child; age’s birth to 26 years old with a disability.

SERVICES:

  • Education workshops for parents on topics related to children and young adults with disabilities, information, and referral, and assistance with school issues.

Products/Services

IEP Partner Training and Matching
The IEP Partners Program trains and matches IEP Partners with parents wanting support at their child's IEP meeting.Their role is to help you prepare for the IEP meeting, plan an agenda, identifying the issues, writing out proposals etc. At the meeting they will take notes and act as a trained listener who is familiar with special education rules & regulations. IEP Partners model parent/professional partnerships & collaboration.

Special Education information and publications
A bi-monthly newsletter that focuses on special education, disability-related issues and upcoming events, as well as a monthly email letter including events and training opportunities. Other information resources include:
*Lending Library of videos and books (through Swindells Center)
*Information and referral
*Problem solving assistance provided by phone
*Information packets by mail, or in some instances email

Special Education Help-Line
The Special Education Help-Line is a toll-free phone service that answers questions related to special education topics.

Available Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5 PM

Extended hours during the school year include:
Tuesday and Thursday to 7 PM
Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM
Statewide Parent Conference
The Oregon PTI Annual Conference on children with disabilities is designed to bring together parents, educators, and health professionals in an atmosphere of cooperation and exploration. The program addresses issues related to nurturing and advocating for children, youth and young adults with disabilities, with a positive focus on their abilities.

Native American Outreach
Information and support regarding special education issues for Native American families.

Diversity Outreach
Our workshops are open to every one interested in attending, but we also understand that there will be times that specific groups, audiences would like to have a personalized presentation. In order to meet those needs and requests we have created an on-line workshop request form for your use. You can also just call us or mail, fax or email us your request.

African American Cultural Outreach
Information and support regarding special education issues for African American families.

Oregonability
The Oregon Ability website is designed to help individuals with disabilities and their families find resources relevant to their lives and their needs. Included are organizations offering a wide range of programs, products and services of interest to people with disabilities and their families. Of equal importance is the ability of individuals and organizations to add and update their own information about resources, via the web.

On-Line Training and Presentation
Oregon PTI is now offering some of our PowerPoints with recorded narration, and the resource handouts that go along with them on our website. In order to access these trainings we ask that you share some basic information with us. Our log in page is located on a secure site, and Oregon PTI does NOT share your personal information with any other person or organization. The information we gather helps us report to our funding source about the demographics of the people we serve. During your login you will have the option of being added to our mailing or email list
