Presented by The Oregon Developmental Disabilities Council, in Cooperation with Seniors and People with Disabilities

An Exploration of Positive Behavioral Approaches and Person Centered Thinking with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders

Offered by: Practical Approaches to Autism, a Division of Mt. Angel Developmental Programs.

Instructor: Rick Newton

This basic seminar offers an equality-based understanding of the human condition designed to move people past their inter-personal barriers to effective supports. Positive Behavioral Approaches invites an understanding of the entire person. Traditional behavioral approaches have failed to demonstrate the effectiveness of this global approach. The philosophies of Person-Centered Thinking will be discussed through the concept of Autism. The human side of supporting people; the joys, dilemmas, setbacks, and victories, that are the heart of our work.

Come to experience:

  • A morning session featuring an overview of our current understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • An afternoon session using Autism as a tool for understanding both Positive Behavioral Approaches and Person-Centered Thinking.

This training is sponsored by the Developmental Disabilities Council with funding provided by Oregon Department of Seniors and People with Disabilities.
