Children and adolescents with anxiety disorders typically experience intense fear, worry, or uneasiness that can last for long periods of time and significantly impact their lives. We will be discussing a variety of different diagnoses including: Generalized Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Depression.
Anxiety is talked about too little, and very little understood. Anxiety and related disorders affect our children at home, school and community. We know that
anxiety and related disorders influence peer and family relationships, childhood activities, and school performance. If not treated early, it can lead to repeated school absences, school drop out, low self–esteem, drug use or suicide.
This workshop takes a generalized look at these very complex disorders so that we can start the discussion on how we can better understand and support children with anxiety in the many aspects of their lives.
Location:
Portland Christian School
