The 8th annual Autism Walk-a-thon will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Oaks Park! This is the largest Autism event in Oregon during April, Autism Awarness Month! Families, friends, neighbors, teachers come together to show support for people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Join us to celebrate the many faces and talents of autism!
The registration desk opens at 9:30 a.m. The walk begins at 10:30 and Oaks Park rides start at 11:00 a.m. This is a short one mile walk around Oaks Park property. And afterwards, many people stay to partake in the exciting rides or take in a picnic at Oaks Park. ASO will have discounted ride braclets to purchase at a price of $12/each ($2 off retail price). Our MC this year is well known radio personality-Charlie Girl from 97.1, Charlie FM!
Remember this is the largest fund raiser for the year for ASO. This year we are making it easy for you to get pledges. You can now create your own fund raising page and earn free Oaks Park ride bracelets via your on-line pledges. See below for details!
NOTE: This website will go down effective April 14th so on-line registrations & fund raising must be complete by this time.
The funds raised by this event stay in Oregon and are deployed immediately to the Autism Community. Proceeds will be used as follows:
- Since 2003, ASO has given out dozens of summer camp scholarships to low income children with ASD to attend the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Club and the Autistic Children's Activity Program (ACAP)
- Funds from the walk help us sustain the popular respite care statewide program, Take a Break on ASO
- You may have attended one or several of the conferences hosted by ASO, like the Wrightslaw Conference hosted in October, 2009. These conferences were made possible because of the walk. We wil host another conference in fall, 2010, thanks to your participation in this event.
Entertainment: Sellwood Middle School Band, Incredible raffle items, BJ the Clown, face painters and a killer craft table await you at the walk!

This year, we're offering an incentive for fund raisers for the Autism Walk-a-thon. For every $1,000 raised in pledges for individuals, you will receive 2 free ride bracelets, to a maxiumum of 6 ride bracelets. For teams, every $1,000 raised in pledges, a team will receive 2 free ride bracelets, to a maximum of 10 ride bracelets!
